Getting to Nanaimo & Central Island

Travellers to central Vancouver Island by car can reach this region by taking BC Ferries from the mainland: via Tsawwassen to Duke Point or Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay. Both ferries bring you to Nanaimo, where you can travel north or south from there. Follow the Island Highway (Hwy 19). Or, hop on Highway 19A to enjoy the scenic, Oceanside Route, connecting Nanaimo to Campbell River.

Travellers coming to the Central Island by air can land in Nanaimo (YCD) or Comox (YQQ) and conveniently renting a car at the airport.
