Vancouver Island is an All Season Destination!

Playing in a tidal pool in the Clayoquot Sound
Golfing in December? Kayaking in February? In Canada? You bet! The Vancouver Island region has the mildest climate in the country, making it possible to pursue almost any outdoor activity year-round — even golfing and cycling. In fact, some activities are even more popular in the winter.
Of course, winter means skiing and, at higher elevations, snow turns our two ski resorts into alpine playgrounds.
And while divers explore the under-water world all year long, they love the cooler months when the water clarity is even better.
Surfers enjoy the big waves the winter months bring, and kayakers keep on paddling no matter what the season.
And hikers, dressed for the weather, take advantage of the quieter months to enjoy the tranquility of the region’s many trails in winter.
Meanwhile, in the Pacific Rim region, the wild winter weather brings out droves of storm watchers.
But even with our moderate climate, each season presents its own distinctive beauty. Our early spring is the envy of the rest of Canada, and our balmy summers are perfect for boating and lazing on the beach. Fall is a gorgeous season of colour and outdoor activities that carry right on through the mild winter.
